Attention Deficit Disorder

Description

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) is the most commonly reported childhood behavioral disorder. It is characterized by poor attention span, impulsive behaviors, and hyperactivity in some children.

Although high-cost medications may temporarily keep ADHD under control, they don't cure it. Eighty percent of patients have ADHD features in adolescence, and up to 65 percent maintain them in adulthood.

How Chiropractic Care Relates to Attention Deficit Disorder

Recent research, correlating head/neck trauma and the onset of ADHD, suggests proper correction of an individual's neck injury can alleviate ADHD symptoms. An accurate assessment of an individual's spine is necessary to determine whether a neck injury has caused ADHD symptoms. If a neck injury is found, specific adjustments are performed by hand to correct the misaligned vertebrae in the neck.
